Welcome all to the very first installment of what will hopefully be a long-running, recurring feature here at Toxicka Shock. What is Prurient Interests about, exactly? Basically it’s a long-form interview piece and personality profile that puts a spotlight on an individual - somehow or someway - associated with the world of internet erotica. Pornhub starlets, OnlyFans favorites, hentai artists, adult ASMR content creators … as long as someone is healthily promoting sex positivity and represents something outside of the all-too-familiar realm of conventional, commercialized, hyper-cishetero smut, we’re beyond thrilled to give them an opportunity to share their stories and experiences.

And there really isn’t a better candidate for our first Prurient Interests article than GregoreErotic. The very first video of his that I saw was a rather intriguing little upload to Pornhub with the oh-so-clickable title “Queer Trans Erotic Alternative Psychdelic Horror Porn Solo Retro Style Compilation.” The nearly half-hour long clip is a kaleidoscopic fever dream that is about the most avant-garde erotica I’ve ever seen on the platform. With beautiful, atmospheric lighting and absolutely exquisite camera work, GregoreErotic’s video felt like a tribute to The Cabinet of Caligari - that is, if Robert Wiene *really* knew how to work a phallus.

I ended up spending an hour watching and admiring the rest of GregoreErotic’s oeuvre after stumbling upon that aforementioned video. Outstanding productions like “FTM Silent Film Retro Style Wet Horny Shower Big Ass” and “Queer Dancing Naked Erotic Trans Man” are undoubtedly titilatting uploads, but it’s apparent that his work isn’t just your standard JOI and nipple play masturbatory fodder. Very few adult content producers out there have the bona fide performance art chops exhibited by GregoreErotic, and even fewer have demonstrated a knack for creating such an authentic gothic horror aura with their material. GregoreErotic is a true devotee of old-school, silent-era cinema, and his videos reflect a genuine admiration and appreciation for the form’s pioneering auteurs. Something tells me that F.W Murnau and Paul Wegener just wouldn’t be fans of GregoreErotic’s work - they’d probably be among his biggest Patreon supporters.

But there’s more to GregoreErotic than his atmospheric and arousing work on ManyVids and XHamster. You’ll find his more safe-for-work material on YouTube, where he works under the “Gregore Metamorphic” moniker. All it takes is one viewing of the short film “Witch’s Justice” - a Cinema of Transgression homage addressing the traumas religious fundamentalism inflicts upon LGBTQ youth - and it should be obvious to anyone that he is a “real” filmmaker with a sincere social message and legitimate talents in front of the camera and behind it.

And if that wasn’t enough? In between the made-for-YouTube Carl Thedor Dreyer-tinged tributes and neon green fingernail handjob simulations on PH, he also has quite the portfolio of mini-nature documentaries on his resume, the bulk of which revolve around the intimate inner workings of insects. Oh, and on top of that, he’s also a budding fashion designer, specializing in such delightfully retro-goth apparel as hand-sewn spider-web hats.

Part Theda Bara, part David Attenborough, part Buck Angel and part Coco Chanel, GregoreErotic is a multifaceted multimedia virtuoso whose output simply cannot be classified with a trendy catchall label. Like the sometimes phantasmagoric work of Paul Leni and Fritz Lang, his content simply defies a neat and tidy classification - a unique mixture of expressionistic art, evocative erotica and Victorian horror, he’s virtually a genre unto himself when it comes to contemporary adult content creators.

And now that we’ve all whet our collective appetites, why don’t we get to know our featured subject a little better?

TOXICKA SHOCK: The term “trans” gets thrown around a lot these days. To you, what does it mean for an individual to be “trans?”

GREGOREEROTIC: To be trans is to feel an incongruence with the gender assigned at birth. I finally understand that I'm a man in a man's body though it looks different from a cis man's. Being trans doesn't mean one has to have gender dysphoria, but I do have dysphoria and hope to someday get top and bottom surgery.

TOXICKA SHOCK: What inspired you to begin posting videos on websites like OnlyFans and ModelHub? Was there ever a moment in your life where you were like “OK, I *have* to start putting content out there now?”

GREGOREEROTIC: I was looking for a way to make some money at first, but realized once I started it could also be a small way to carve out some space in the adult industry for someone like me, trans pre op guys. It's also an outlet for my adult art.

TOXICKA SHOCK: How would you describe the content you produce? Obviously it has an erotic quality to it, but it’s certainly a lot more artistic and avant-garde than most of the videos you see on similar platforms.

GREGOREEROTIC: I would describe my work as horror porn, alternative trans goth entertainment, I like to picture myself in the eyes of the viewer and put on a show that's unique and memorable.

TOXICKA SHOCK: Would you take offense to me describing your work as “Neo-German Expressionist Porn?”

GREGOREEROTIC: I think that's a very good term for it. I find so much inspiration in performance art and I try to put that inspiration into my work.

TOXICKA SHOCK: There’s been a lot of contention about the payment models used by sites like OnlyFans and Pornhub. Do you think you and fellow content creators are getting a fair deal when it comes to monetizing your videos on such platforms?

GREGOREEROTIC: After a couple years doing this now I can say without a doubt trans folx are not treated fairly when it comes to payment. The algorithms on these sites that are largely cis performer focused are stacked against trans people. We have to work ten times harder to even begin to have an audience, and once we do and those hundreds of subscribers start showing up, we start getting fan mail, folx interested in our pay sites, there is still little chance of making it to the coveted home page. The fans are why we get the little we do make, the sites could care less about trans performers unfortunately and that's a really brutal realization but still true and trans creators are always having to fight it.

titilatting, haunting and sometimes trippy, GREGOREEROTIC's work defies conventional genre labels.

TOXICKA SHOCK: Is there a particular market or niche segment your videos are skewed to? When it comes to your average fan, what are some of their demographics and consumer characteristics?

GREGOREEROTIC: My demographic surprised me a bit, mostly cis straight men. I'd love to see my work reaching a wider demographic. My niche is BDSM submissive, but it varies widely. It's always very unapologetically Queer.

TOXICKA SHOCK: You have a lot of non-porn content out there, too. Can you tell us about your more work-safe content on platforms like YouTube?

GREGOREEROTIC: I'd be happy to. I'm Gregore Metamorphic on YouTube, a channel that's mostly focused on my drag art and postmodern horror and melodrama. It's also the channel I use for my macro work, spiders and insects mostly. I also have an Etsy shop, Gregore Fashions, where I sell unique one of a kind queer fashion.

TOXICKA SHOCK: As an adult content creator, do you have a specific goal or ambition in mind for your career?

GREGOREEROTIC: I want to see a Renaissance for trans creators. I hope to see an appreciation for the diversity of trans content creators and a change in how we are treated on these sites.

TOXICKA SHOCK: Producing adult content, is there anything profound or significant than you’ve uncovered or learned about yourself?

GREGOREEROTIC: I've learned I can finally shake off that religious guilt my parents burdened me with and just celebrate myself as a sexual being, hopefully getting paid for something I enjoy doing and feel liberated by.

TOXICKA SHOCK: And since it’s Halloween, we’ve got to close out on a seasonally-appropriate question: what’s your all-time favorite horror movie, and what horror movie do you think would’ve worked better if it was an unabashed porn production?

GREGOREEROTIC: Oh that's a tough one. I'm a huge Vincent Price fan, good lord that man was gorgeous, so I'd say “Fall of the House Of Usher.” “Horror Express”, that would have been a wild train ride of a horror movie as a porn film!

XOXO, TOXICKA
